Gulaal Holi: Celebrating the Divine Colours of Lord Holi JCI Hyderabad Samskriti, a nonprofit organization that promotes cultural and social awareness, hosted the annual Gulaal Holi event on March 8th. The festival, named after the colorful powder, or gulaal, that is thrown on people during the festivities, is a celebration of the arrival of spring and the victory of good over evil. The festival holds a special significance in Hindu mythology, as it commemorates the victory of Lord Krishna over the demoness Holika. Lord Holi, a manifestation of Lord Krishna, is the presiding deity of the festival, and the festival is a time for people to come together and embrace the spirit of love, unity, and harmony. The Gulaal Holi event began with a traditional puja, or prayer, to Lord Holi, and was followed by a vibrant procession where participants danced and sang to the beat of the dhol, a traditional Indian drum.
